Despite being fully committed to the Mac OS X right now, I can not help but be excited about Windows 8. Marital enjoyed the experience of Metro UI in Windows Phone, I can not wait to try it in a tablet. And I know many users feel the same way. But the one thing that could put many of them off Windows 8 slates is the lack of iTunes.
For Microsoft to make Windows 8 a success, it will need the support of its biggest rival Apple. A large part of the Windows users are using iOS devices to sync them to their PC, and the iTunes Store to purchase music, movies, TV shows, and apps. Of course, they need iTunes to do that.
The problem is, Windows 8 tablets will run a touch-friendly version of the operating system built for ARM processors exclusively using the Metro user interface. It is not like the PC version, which allows you to toggle between the Metro and traditional UIs for Windows. And because of this, Microsoft is encouraging developers to adapt their applications for the Metro UI.
There is a good chance that Apple - a company famous for playing by its own rules - will decide it does not want to play ball. And if that turns out to be the case, it is a reason why consumers may decide not to use a tablet with Windows 8.
Of course, Windows 8 comes with its own music app, where users can move all of their content. But it's not iTunes, and it will not sync with iOS devices.
This is a problem with Microsoft is thinking kia pride about, according to Jay Greene at CNET. Although the company declined to comment on the matter, kia pride the CEO, Steve Ballmer, kia pride stated last year that Microsoft would "welcome Metro-style applications from Apple's iTunes case."
