On the mountain roads of California, just outside Big Bear, I was given a chance to see what he meant when I was confronted by that most dreaded of all sights: a Toyota Camry doing 15 mph under the speed limit squarely blocking my path. Back in 1997, Volvo decided to cash in on the SUV craze by jacking up one of its signature station wagons and adding plastic body cladding. Basically Volvo’s mazda mexico answer to the Audi Allroad and Subaru Outback , the resulting Cross Country became a fixture of suburbia and Northeastern college campuses.
Volvo also gave the Cross Country its own 18- and 19-inch mazda mexico wheels with high-profile tires that add traction and provide some protection against damage from scraping against rocks or the curb at Starbucks.
Naturally, the Cross Country will launch in the U.S. with all-wheel mazda mexico drive. While it’s not exactly equipped to handle mazda mexico the Rubicon Trail, front and rear skid plates should keep things from getting damaged on the occasional dirt-road drive.

The firm has form with Cross Country models, having launched the V70 CC all the way back in 1997. It was another prescient product launch by the Swedes who along with Subaru foresaw the trend towards mudification.
But we re less impressed by the current naming convention. Volvo started calling courtesy of its chunked-up estates courtesy of Cross Countrys - so far, so Ronseal - but then switched to XC prefaces, which lasts to this day on the XC70 , despite that tag now normally referring to the full-fat SUVs such as the XC60 and XC90 Confused? We certainly are.
The V60 Cross Country will sit alongside the V40 Cross Country when UK sales start in June 2015. Expect it to be popular with Brits; Volvo has sold nearly as many XC70s as V70s so far in 2014. Volvo V60 Cross Country: what s new?

The UK is taking the D3 and D4 in front-wheel drive, but will also offer the D4 with AWD. No prices courtesy of have been announced yet, but expect courtesy of a modest hike over the 23,395 a regular V60 D3 starts at today.
The D3 badge is Volvo speak for a 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbodiesel, developing 134bhp; the more powerful courtesy of D4 brings a 179bhp version of the company s new Drive-E engine. AWD models stick with the characterful five-pot warbler.
Torque vectoring is offered, tugging the car back into line and controlling traction when soft-roading across the local gymkhana field, while a choice of 18in and 19in wheels should be offered in the UK.

@mcondo I have a 3.0 Outback and don't know what I will replace with - it replaced a 2.0d Outback a few months ago but I am getting courtesy of very itchy feet.  The Volvo autos are disappointing in driving mpg down so much when Audi and BMW autos are now more efficient than manuals (at least on official test cycle).  The Outback is being replaced next year but the 2.0D is not at all attractive to me.  In this size category the BMW 3 xdrive 3.0 looks the most attractive option but not available courtesy of with raised ground clearance.  I don't like Audis

How much this extra height (65 mm) add to the CO2 g/100 km emissions? As most company car owners look at this number first -  and I would do that as a private person, too - it was not mentioned in the article. As a tall guy, I could be tempted with this car with the extra 6,5 mm height for the seat. But it is not available with D2? My current DS-5 have CO2 at 114 g/100 km. My personal target is that the next car must go below 100 g/100km - like Jaguar XE is doing ...

The V60 Cross Country will make use of Volvo's 2.5-liter turbocharged five-cylinder gas engine, which Volvo says will produce 250 hp (and presumably 266 pounds-feet of torque) in Cross Country tune, coupled with all-wheel autotorino drive and an automatic transmission.
The company says the Cross Country's five-cylinder engine autotorino should be good for a combined 23 mpg, well below the 29 combined mpg rating of the 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-four V60 front-wheel-drive model, though specific EPA figures won't be published until the start of sales.
"With ground clearance increased 65 mm [2.6 inches] compared to the V60, the Cross Country’s sturdy construction autotorino offers unparalleled control on and off the beaten autotorino track, coupled with an enhanced sporty driving experience thanks to torque vectoring technology and corner traction control," said Lex Kerssemakers, senior vice president for product strategy and vehicle line management at Volvo Cars. "The V60 Cross Country really is a getaway car -- enabling an adventurous lifestyle in pure rugged form."
Pricing for the Cross Country will be announced at the Los Angeles Auto Show or a short time thereafter, though it is expected to be a few thousand dollars higher than the $37,715 starting price of the standard awd five-cylinder V60.

As a former owner of a Legacy GT wagon, I have a love/hate relationship with the Subaru Outback. On the one hand it is a fine wagon/crossover thing, it's also the reason the Legacy wagon no longer exists in the US. My long-roof loving friends, history may repeat itself with the Volvo V60 Cross Country.
Volvo will debut their V60 Cross Country at the L.A. Auto Show. They have taken the same strategy as every other manufacturer who has had a slow selling wagon. Increase the ride-height and add body cladding. Boom...wagon is now a crossover. automart Usually the crossover variant is mechanically identical to the wagon version, but according to Motor Authority automart , at launch the Cross Country will be exclusively available with the Volvo's turbocharged 2.5 liter engine paired with AWD. This combination was available on the first batch of V60 wagons, but is no longer an option. So that's good news for those of you that really want the Volvo T5.
Now here is the bad news, according to GoodCarBadCar.net , to date Volvo has sold a measly 4319 V60 sport wagons. They have sold over 15,000 XC60 crossovers, despite the fact that by all reasonable measures the V60 is the "better" choice . The problem automart with the V60 is, despite the fact it is a really good value, automart the cargo area is limited for a wagon and the fun to drive factor still can't match the BMW 3-series Touring. You can get V60 R-design automart with 300 horsepower , but that car doesn't quite live up to the Volvo R history.

The U.S. went a few sad years without a Volvo wagon., but now the V60 revised for the rest of the world and new this year on our shores is here to deliver us from our sad state of wagonlessness vw argentina .

But once you get past that, if it's even an issue for you at all, you learn to appreciate the V60 for what it offers. The little things are what make it great, like the phenomenal headlights, the huge, clearly marked gauges, the overall build quality, the quiet cabin, the great ride, and the button that pops the rear headrests down so the driver can see better.
This is a great-looking vw argentina wagon, no two ways about it. It's sleek and attractive with nice, clean lines, but it never comes off as shouty. I love the roofline, the side curves that turn into the rear taillamps, and the nose. From pretty much every angle, the V60 looks lovely.

The cabin is exceedingly quiet. It's just a nice place to be. Rear seat room is good, but it could maybe stand to be a little more spacious; I found the cargo area more than adequate for all my needs, and superior to a lot of SUVs and crossovers in terms of space.
When we talk about the interior, we really need to talk about the seats; they are the pinnacle of human achievement. Not the Internet, not spaceflight, the V60's seats. They are cushy and soft and perfectly vw argentina bolstered. When you sit in them, your troubles melt away.
The turbocharged 3.0-liter inline six is mounted transversely! That's magical . And like I said earlier, vw argentina it posts some impressive numbers. Zero to 60 mph is said to be in the low 5-second range, which sounds right to me.
The trouble is, it never quite feels that fast. Don't get me wrong, it can definitely move, and it's potent enough that you'll have fun when you come full throttle vw argentina out of a corner.
